India won the toss at the beautiful stadium and elected to bat first. India made 168-runs for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs. Rohit Sharma made 53 runs off 34 balls. Suresh Raina too played well and played 41-runs innings off just 23 balls.
Replying to which, South Africa didn’t start well and lost Hashim Amla (01) in the second over. Aashish Nehra clean bowled him. Morne Van Wyk played like he was playing football and explosively scored 67-runs off 39 balls studded with 5 fours and 5 sixes. But other batsmen couldn’t do much. AB de Villiers’ (14) run out was the turning point of the match. At the end, South Africa finished on 147/9 in 20 overs. Nehra and Yusuf Pathan took 2 wickets each. Rohit Sharma was named man of the match.
After the match ended, Dhoni had the chat with Makhaya Ntini on the field probably wishing him good luck, all other Indian players too came to him and gave him warm wishes.
